THE WORK OF THE SAMARITANS IN ZAMBIA

Whilst many others just take care of the orphans, we are having our programmes TO PREVENT HIV/AIDS transmission by the following: We educate pupils, students in schools, colleges, universities and public places about the dangers of HIV/AIDS. We print HIV/AIDS literature and distribute them to the public. We speak on radios on the evils of HIV/AIDS. We discourage men, women and youths from watching or reading pornographic materials.

We train others (city to city) or town-to-town, villages to villages so that we multiply our knowledge and then help our nations. We aim to reduce the rate of HIV transmission in our communities. To reduce HIV/AIDS transmission from mother to child through breast feeding. We promote abstinence message to the singles before marriage and faithfulness between married partners. We discourage polygamous life style and encourage monogamous.

1. CHRIST CENTERED COUNSELING We provide Christ centered counseling using the Bible alone - John 8:32, 36; 11:44 - Jesus said unto them, LOOSE him and let him go.

2.  SAMARITAN BASIC EDUCATION Education is very important to all people and is foundational in all societies and nations. It matters what we teach the people. We sow the seeds of basic Christian education. What you sow is what you reap. We are currently using the dinning room for home schooling as we wait to build Samaritan Community School. We need desks and chairs for the school. Samaritan Community School was opened in 2000 and all young children are taught here, except for Ntoka Mbozi and Phumile Ngwira, who we are supporting to go to colleges.

3. EDUCATION PROGRAMS (HIV/AIDS) In 2000 we started a program to educate the public about the dangers of HIV/AIDS in the schools, colleges and universities. We strongly teach against the use of condoms, which promote promiscuity among the youths. We also teach villagers against polygamy and promote monogamy life style.

4. ACCOMMODATION Currently, we are accommodating 25 children at our center. But we are in the middle of our building project and would like to complete two more building phases, which would support 33 more children.

5. LIFE SKILLS TRAINING The skills we offer are: sewing, carpentry, building, welding, craft, electrical, mechanics, home economics, farming, computer science, plumbing, etc. These are essential in training the children to one day support themselves and to bring them hope in the midst of poverty. Volunteers are vitally needed to come to help the children with skills, for we cannot do it alone. Usually, we take the children to where they teach the skills, because we have no tools at our center. Therefore, tools and equipment are needed in aiding this education.

6. FEEDING PROGRAM There are many children in the streets as well as the shanty compounds who are in great need of food. At random times, when God provides the support, we feed up to 2,300 children in a day. God fed the children of Israel - Deut 8:3, Jesus Christ fed 5,000 with bread and fish - Matt 14:15-21, and He also fed 4,000 with 7 loaves - Mark 8:1-9. We also preach the Word of God to them after we feed them.

7. SAMARITAN MEDICAL CAREThe name Samaritan is taken from Luke 10: 33-34. The Samaritan man saw the wounded man and was MOVED with COMPASSION and went to him and BOUND up his WOUNDS, pouring in oil and wine (like medicine). We provide spiritual and quality health care to the communities in response to Great Commission-Matthew 28:18- 20, prayer, evangelism and discipleship. There are more people who pass through the Hospitals and clinics than they pass through the local churches. There is no better time to reach a human being than when he is sick and desperately needs healing. For us, our medical center is a place of gospel reach out to the patients, life net, utilizing all the opportunity to God has given us to fish men where they are easily found and using what they really need. . Well-trained health care providers accomplish this. Children who are HIV/AIDS positive fall sick now and again and usually it is more expensive to take our children to private clinics. As for government hospitals and clinics do not have medicine and the doctors prescribe the drugs. We decided to have the clinic, which would serve all the orphaned children, widows and widowers who do not have any resource at all, could be treated free of charge.

Those who are doing well in the society pay for medical services. Jesus Christ touched the sick, healed them and He is still doing the same through Samaritan Medical Centre and other Hospitals and clinics around the world. The healing that begins with the change of heart and then the body.

RURAL MEDICAL SERVICES
We also have rural gospel and medical reach out to the poor people. These are the most neglected in the society and usually they die from simple diseases, which could be cured. Our hearts goes to the needy people like these. We need many medical volunteers.
